The Jovial Sailor is located in Ripley near to Woking and Guildford and attracting regulars from all these areas and passing trade alike. The site had a stunning refurbished in 2015 to new Chef & Brewer template.

Superb outside area with space to add further covers as business builds. Busy Lunch time sessions and evenings. Successful and loyal Sunday Roast trade. Strong food business with opportunity to build local drinking trade.

Live In for Single or Couple Occupancy is available.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity in one of our Chef and Brewer pubs for a General Manager in Ripey.

This role is crucial to the financial performance of our pub, It’s a perfect blend of organisation skills, leadership and yes you guessed it serving our guests! As a general Manager, and with support from your Area Manager you’ll recruit, lead and inspire your teams to manage and whole customer journey ultimately driving profitability. Whether you’re in the office planning rota’s, conducting stock and lines checks, on the bar, or in the kitchen you’ll trust your team to deliver a great customer experience because you’ve trained them to be their best! You’ve got bags of energy, enthusiasm and commitment anyway so this should be a piece of cake, right?

You’ll have tons of experience in the hospitality and catering industry and be used to being the steady hand that steers the ship. Our pubs and restaurants are far too big for you to do everything so you will spend your time ensuring our processes are followed rather than doing it yourself.

Ideally from a branded pub background, however other similar industries will be considered, your passion for right first time customer service, food, drink and most importantly leadership is what we’re looking for. We can give you the skill and knowledge to understand our branded pubs and restaurants but we can’t give you the appetite and ambition.

When you join us, you’ll experience our brand new and reworked General Manager induction programmes. Whether its stuff you already know, or a brand new experience, online apps and pub based training with our experienced Greene King managers we’ll ensure your toolkit is full so you’re ready to get cracking.

From there the sky is really the limit, with many of our Area Managers coming from a General Manager background or perhaps you’d like to be field based in Training or HR? Our Learning and development team will ensure your journey is bespoke and filled with qualifications too!
