Rams Rugby Club, is both a successful rugby club and a successful social venue. The club has recently benefited from a million pound extension and refurbishment. To maintain their success they are looking for a well organised, experienced bar person to join the successful Rams Rugby hospitality team. You will organise, maintain and run the bars at the club during weekends and during the weekday opening times, including for funerals and weddings.

Your day to day role will include: 

You will work closely with the Hospitality Manager and resident chef to make sure that the weekends run smoothly.

Working most Saturdays on Bar duties from 11am to 7pm as well as 8pm to late, if an event has been booked (8-14 hours), and Sundays - 12 noon-5pm - (5 hours) and meeting with Hospitality Manager to discuss orders.  Please note the busiest periods for the club are during the Rugby season from mid-August to the end of April. 

The evenings and days’ work Monday to Friday to be agreed on an ongoing basis. The role will include some general facilities management and maintenance tasks.

Specific  duties include:

  • Manage and maintain the Rams Rugby bar area and cellar ensuring it is stocked appropriately for customer needs with minimum wastage.
  • Organising staff and holding start of shift meetings.
  • Greeting and tending to customers’ needs and ‘getting hands on’ over the busy period. 
  • Liaise with the various suppliers and obtain the best deals for the club.
  • Manage the till system and complete the required accounting reports for the Rams Accounting Manager. 
  • Clean pipes and manage cellar. 
  • Allocate pitches and changing rooms for bookings. 

The ideal candidate will have; 

  • A background in pub management or a willingness to go on various training courses
  • The retiring manager will be very supportive
  • Friendly and professional
  • Problem solving skills and be well organised
