An exciting opportunity has arisen for a new General Manager at the Pilgrim Inn, Marchwood. This chocolate box style pub with thatched roof is located in the heart of Marchwood and right on the edge of the New Forest, providing an ideal base for visitors to both the Forest and also Southampton. Providing luxury accommodation and a beautiful pub setting on the edge of the New Forest, the Pilgrim provides the perfect base for tourists to explore the local area. The Pilgrim pub is a real chameleon site, its sizable garden is great in the summer for families to meet and enjoy the weather and it trades its garden for a roaring fire to cosy up to during the darker, colder months. The Pilgrim has 14 boutique style bedrooms and operates a successful pub/restaurant. The food offer is premium with a focus on signatures. Drinks focus around a large gin selection as well as the more traditional ale drinker.

The next General Manager of the Pilgrim Inn will be keen to become part of the local community and be the face of the pub and at the same time ensure the offer is perfectly suited to hotel guests here to explore the local area. Impeccable standards are essential and the ability to recruit, train and retain a solid team around you will ensure the pub’s continued success.

This is a live out position, although live in could be considered and is perfectly suited to an existing General Manager who would like to run a beautiful business with bedrooms.

For any General Manager, Fuller’s is a special company to work for. You’ll get lots of help and support from Head Office when you need it, but also plenty of encouragement to put your own spin on the pub.

You can take plenty of pride in the role too, knowing that Fuller’s ales, food and service has a reputation as some of the very best in the business.

You’ll need to be commercially minded, making the right decisions to keep customers pouring through the doors. Importantly though, you’ll be a people-person too - mindful that to many, you’re still a good old-fashioned ‘Landlord’.

And of course, you’ll have a team to look after. So we’re looking for somebody with true leadership qualities – able to keep both the customers and the team smiling.

  • You’ll be great at leading a team
  • You should be highly motivated and commercially focused
  • You’ll need to be a great communicator
  • You should have previous management experience
