The Elephant Inn is one of the most popular locals pubs in Finchley, serving great beer and traditional Thai food in a friendly atmosphere. Trade mainly comes from local residents, however, there is also a good mix with business trade over lunch and dinner. The Thai food is also very popular and the restaurant upstairs is normally booked out every weekend. At weekends there is a real family atmosphere, with many residents visiting with family and friends. The Elephant Inn is also the best pub in Finchley for all live televised matches with SKY and BT sports, with five plasma TVs and one giant screen. The boxing is also very popular here as well as the rugby, being home to Saracens. The Elephant Inn really places itself at the heart of the community.

We are looking for a General Manager who can embrace all aspects of this business, has a passion for great service, and making the pub a home away from home. A big interest in sport is very important and also being able to put on creative and well thought out events. Giving customers great reasons to visit are essential. Someone with great relationship building skills is crucial as you will be the main contact for the community and you will need to be able to work with them to deliver community led events and private parties.

This is a live in position (2 bedroom flat) and a great opportunity to put your stamp on the business and really make this pub your own.

You’ll need to be commercially minded, making the right decisions to keep customers pouring through the doors. Importantly though, you’ll be a people-person too - mindful that to many, you’re still a good old-fashioned ‘Landlord’.

And of course, you’ll have a team to look after. So we’re looking for somebody with true leadership qualities – able to keep both the customers and the team smiling.

  • You’ll be great at leading a team
  • You should be highly motivated and commercially focused
  • You’ll need to be a great communicator
  • You should have previous management experience
