We are looking to recruit an experienced Club Steward for our friendly private members Club in Newark on Trent, Nottinghamshire. Experience and or knowledge of cellar management, stock control, catering and supervision of staff will be essential.

The successful candidate will report to the Club Secretary and Committee. S/he must have experience of running a busy Club and will have responsibility for developing both the food and beverage service of the business, and for the management of bar and kitchen staff. Good communication skills and the ability to present a positive image of the Club is essential.

This is a full time post and the hours may be extended to deal with room hire, functions, activities and monthly entertainment events. The successful candidate will be required to live in. A three bedroom flat on site forms part of the remuneration package.

Job Profile

The Club Steward performs functions that are vital to the smooth day-to-day operation of Newark Conservative Club.  He/she manages the planning, delivery, preparation and sale of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drink as well as food in an efficient, effective and friendly manner.

Job Purpose

To ensure the safe, efficient and successful  running of the Club for the benefit of members.

To ensure that the club premises are fully operational and ready for use.

To play an integral part in developing a dynamic, fun and welcoming atmosphere.

Delivery of the highest professional standards will be paramount.

The post holder will be required to work to a budget and explore cost saving alternatives and service improvements.

Overall Job Responsibility

The Club Steward is responsible for managing, monitoring and controlling the day to day operation of the club and its facilities.  The key aim of this role is to provide club members with a consistently good experience by achieving and maintaining excellent standards of hospitality, service and cleanliness. The successful candidate will be a visible presence during opening hours representing the Club in a professional and friendly manner.
